The British 1937 Linneman tool was a copy of the Danish designed entrenching tool much used across Europe from the late 1800's. In use with the British, it was not popular, as when worn with the webbing as designed it would catch the back of the legs when running and crouching. in 1940 the British reverted back to the 08 Pattern.
