Flimsy Box opened with lid

£3.50

This is a Flimsy box that has been opened to reveal two flimsies inside. The box was known as clothing to the Middle East forces and The '4 gallon Tin, Lightweight' needed it to give it strength, Flimsies were notoriously rubbish and only had two good points. A) they had square corners so didn't waste space in transport. and B) the handle folded flat. as much as 50% of fuel could be lost using flimsies if they were not handled and transported properly.

Flimsy boxes were used since the invention of the motor car and were relatively sturdy. If taken out to the front lines and beyond the empty boxes were often used for furniture and firewood. If not stowed properly the boxes could break apart and puncture the tins.
